The Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) announced its list of Awards for Excellence for 2007.

The Association of Art Museum Curators (AAMC) announced its 2007 winners of Awards for Excellence in the categories of museum catalogues, articles and exhibitions.

Highest Honors for Permanent Collection Catalogue:

  • Liedtke, Walter A. Dutch Paintings in The Metropolitan Museum of Art. New York: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2007.

This two-volume in-depth study of the institution's 229 Dutch paintings from 1600 to 1800 was written by Walter Liedtke, Curator of European Paintings. The authoritative text was published to coincide with The Age of Rembrandt: Dutch Paintings in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, a landmark special exhibition from September 18, 2007 to January 6, 2008. Liedtke's work, a long-term project, was cited for its exceptional levels of scholarship, originality and depth of research.

Having outdistanced its competition, the book was recognized for its highly successful interdisciplinary approach.

Art and the Feminist Revolution, curated by Cornelia Butler and organized by The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles in cooperation with the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, D.C., P.S. 1 Contemporary Arts Center, New York and the Vancouver Art Gallery, British Columbia.
